The top four movies at the box office, The Final Destination, Inglourious Basterds, Halloween II and District 9 were all rated "R" - and in some of those cases a very hard "R." It is not only a rare event for so many "R" rated movies to take a top box office spot, but these movies made a combine profit of $76.5 million dollar nearly equal to the record setting numbers of the same period pin 2007. The Final Destination grossed over $28 million, Inglourious basterds dropped to 2nd place but managed to pull in $20 million more dollars, Halloween II - which cost only $15 million bucks to put together - grossed $17 million and District 9 pulled in another 11 million - putting it's over all gross to $95 million dollars in it's third week showing. These four movies made 38% more then 13 films combined that ran this same time period in 2008. Who says rated "R" movies can't be successful? Oh yeah, pretty much everyone these days.
