Viper Comics has acquired the comics rights to Inspector Gadget and plans to release a raphic novel featuring the property in 2011. Inspector Gadget originally ran from 1983 to 1986, spawned numerous spin-offs including a 1999 live action film starring Matthew Broderick, and still runs in re-runs. It was a DIC (now Cookie Jar) and Nelvana co-production, with animation work outsourced to Japanese and Taiwanese studios. The title character is a simple detective with bionic gadgets built into his body.
