Howell in The Spider

Although it is already in production, Marc Webb’s reboot of Spider-Man continues to add cast members. The latest announcement involves 1980s child star C. Thomas Howell, who has joined a cast that includes Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and Irrfan Khan.

Bringing Back the Thunderbirds

Gerry Anderson told fan site Fanderson that he will produce a new TV series based on Thunderbirds, the cult “Supermarionation” UK series from the sixties. While not as big in the U.S. as it was in the UK, the series has a following worldwide. Anderson reportedly told the BBC, "I don't want to sound conceited, but because I'm going to make it...I'm confident that it will be a smash hit!" Jerry Anderson is a British publisher, producer, director and writer, famous for Thunderbirds, Space: 1999.

Edgar and Pym

Edgar Wright, of Scott Pilgrim fame, has turned to the business of rewriting Ant-Man, according to the Los Angeles Times. Wright previously wrote one draft of the script, and has at various times expressed his continuing interest in the property, but has been busy doing other things. This is the first time he’s done any work on Ant-Man since he started developing Scott Pilgrim, according to the report

Red Lantern

DC has announced that it will launch an ongoing Red Lantern comic series, to be written by Peter Milligan, in 2011. Red Lantern will build on concepts introduced in the core Green Lantern series by DC CCO Geoff Johns, who asked Milligan to write the book.

McG Ouija

Director McG is being signed to direct Ouija, based on the Hasbro game, and production will begin later this year, according to Variety, which describes the film as a “supernatural action adventure.” The release date has been set as November 12, 2012.

Directing Godzilla

Godzilla has a director. Gareth Edwards, the British filmmaker who wrote and directed indie sci-fi movie Monsters, is closing a deal to develop and direct the creature feature for Legendary Pictures, the company that co-produced blockbusters such as Inception and The Dark Knight. Warner Bros. will co-produce, co-finance and distribute per its deal with Legendary. Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing along with Dan Lin, Roy Lee, and Brian Rogers. Legendary picked up the rights to the giant lizard from Japan’s Toho Co. in March 2010. It was around that time that Edwards’ Monsters made its premiere at SXSW before moving on to the Toronto International Film Festival and a U.S. release by Magnet Releasing in October.

Marvels New EIC

Marvel has announced that Axel Alonso will be the new Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Entertainment, reporting to Publisher and President of Print, Animation, and Digital Divisions, Dan Buckley. Joe Quesada, who’s been Marvel’s EIC for ten years, will focus on his Chief Creative Officer duties. Alonso has been an editor at Marvel since 2000, and an Executive Editor since 2003.
